What does your picture say about you?

Here at Models Direct we deal with different clients on a day-to-day basis. They all come to us looking for the right face for their project.

It's essential that you have the best quality images on your Models Direct entry and your online profile to increase your opportunities of being shortlisted or selected.

You don't have to spend a fortune on professional shots but they do have to be good quality, well lit and showing you as you are now (not 12 months ago).

To help, here is our advice when taking photos:

We need bright, well lit, close up photographs of you relaxed and happy!

Try taking some pictures preferably outside, making sure there is no clutter in the background, and you wear clothes in plain colours. It is always good to avoid 'household' style shots (kitchen, bathroom, bedroom etc and preferably not wearing a hat) as they don't look as professional.

Sit or stand comfortably. Ask whoever takes the shots to bring the camera up close so your head and shoulders fill the viewer. Also take some full length pictures.

Show your personality and character, take some smiling and some more posed shots to give you variety.

For full-length shots make sure YOU and not the background or scenery fill the viewer. Wear a different jacket or top, be relaxed, get used to the camera - and enjoy yourself!

If you have your pictures developed, ask for 'gloss finish' as these scan better.

To post a disk to us with 5 or 6 of your best shots, save the images in .jpeg format which was a format designed specifically for sending photographs (bitmap is too large), alternatively print them print them as large as you can - A4 maximum - this will greatly add to the quality of the pictures once they are scanned onto file here, and remember this is what our clients who book models see.

We care very much about how we represent our models and would like to put your look forward, whenever called for, to corporate clients. It's very much your advantage to provide us with better photographs and improve on the ones we are currently using.

You can now update your pictures online with your user ID and password - www.modelsdirect.com

Kids Fashion

Girls

Skinny jeans are still in for 2007. Leggings under a short skirt are also a must. Preteens, teens and younger girls are crazy over leggings. Tee- shirts and tops are getting longer this year.

For a cool and fun look this season, look for some camouflaged items made just for girls

This year, look for traditional camo-prints as well as non-traditional camouflages like pink camouflage and pseudo-flags (camouflage-like patterns made from interesting objects like butterflies, flowers, teddy bears and more). The world of kids' fashion explodes with 80s inspired clothing. Yes, 80s looks are carrying through from the winter season into spring.

Boys

If you love the Rock Edge Kid look, rock inspired tee shirts has totally taken over kids' fashion. One of the biggest looks for boys is the Collegiate Kid Look. Achieved by combining traditional Varsity apparel such as college sweatshirts and striped ties with laid back casual clothes like worn-in jeans, hoodies and vintage inspired tee.

The Vintage Casual Look is still going strong. Boys love this look because it is comfy, casual and looks cool. This look is all about layering, and choosing pieces that have a retro look to them and a pre-worn feel.Track pants and sports' logo tee shirts are in with the athletic look. The Sporty Boy Look is fresh and cool this season. Polo shirts, cable cord sweaters and deck shoes bring the updated versions of classic preppy wear. The look has changed a bit over the last 20 years; the fits are more modern and the colour palate is vibrant and exciting.
