Models: Helena, Hayley, Sarah

Assignments are not all about posing for photographers – many give our models an insight into various aspects of the fashion industry too, as was the case when Helena, Hayley and Sarah took part in a promotional sales pitch for Columbia Sportswear.

Helena explains: "I had to model skiwear for new ranges to three buyers from Blacks and Millets, outdoor clothing specialists. I wore a pair of white ski pants for the presentation which lasted just over an hour. I then changed into about 20 different ski tops and jackets.

"The pitch was really interesting and I learnt quite a lot about the buying and selling of such products. I learnt also about budgets and the different markets the buyers were catering for. The clothes were really snug and in many different colours and lovely to wear… although I did get a little warm!

"It was my first assignment from the agency and I really enjoyed it. I would definitely do it again – it was a good afternoon and I left with a buzz."

Each of the three models earned £87 for this assignment. Hayley told us : "The job was a good experience and the group of people I was modelling in front of were lovely. Now that I have completed my first assignment, hopefully there will be many more." And Sarah added: "I tried on a range of garments and was told when to change. All of the staff were polite and welcoming."
