| Tanning for the Summer |
![]() |
![]() Although your skin colour is beautiful just as it is, many people feel that a tan helps them to look in good health and this can be the case but you will need to use sun protection lotions to maintain your skins natural beauty. UV rays can reach your skin even on cloudy days which is something we tend to forget especially in the UK. Whether you are going to go into the sun or use fake tanning, the most important thing is preparation. Make sure your body is well exfoliated as this helps to give an even tan. |
You
need to get your skin in good condition so get a hydrating body lotion,
it need not be expensive, and use it as often as you can. Skin that is dry
and dehydrated is going to burn much more easily. It’s no fun trying to
cover up sore peeling and blistered skin. On holiday apply your sun cream in the room just before going to the beach as it’s easier to make sure you have not missed any where. Don't forget to reapply regularly. Use at least an SPF15 and more if you are going abroad for the holidays, you may think you won't get any colour, but you will. Tanning with a slightly higher factor sunscreen, means the tan will be deeper and will last longer. You may feel itís very slow for the first few days, but when the colour develops it will not disappear within days of getting home, but remember to keep moisturising. When you bath or shower, apply an oil or moisturiser while you |
are
still damp as this will give you an extra boost of moisture. If you plan
to use fake tans there is an art to getting it to look perfect. Exfoliate
thoroughly in whatever method you prefer and pay particular attention to
dry areas such as elbows and knees. Moisturise really well when your skin is moisturised, the tanning lotion is less likely to become concentrated, on the dry areas leaving you with darker orange patches. Don’t forget this applies to all of you men as well. Have a good summer. Glenys Ask your Doctor’s advice for what is best for you personally - don’t take chances in the sun! |
