‘Thank
you Paul - now you’re a star! it’s great to hear from you’ Damian & Suzy |
| I
have been with Models Direct now a little over 5 years and have had some
fantastics gigs during this time and now have finally succeeded in making
it in the broadcasting industry as a television presenter. Like most of you I wanted to be famous and recognised, and wanted to be in the entertainments world but never really got that far. I rang up agencies and production companies and just needed a break. Fortunately my mother was a fashion designer and regularly organised shows for her designs, she encouraged me to make appearences on the catwalk and just escort models up and down the runway. After a few shows someone mentioned to me that I should go into modelling, I didn’t think much of the idea at first but thought what the hell. So I went through the Yellow Pages and came across ‘Models Direct’. I gave them a call and they asked me to send some photos and a CV. At the time I didn’t really have any |
good photos so my mum took some fresh ones and I sent them down. Within
two weeks they were well recieved and I was accepted, I thought brilliant
I’m on my way. Now at the time I was quite naive to think that once I was signed up I would be called every day sent all over world doing photo shoots and adverts, well how wrong was I. About 4 months went by and nothing until I got a letter asking me to enter into the ‘Millenium Model competition’ so without a second thought I entered. I was interveiwed in Leeds by Suzy and Damian O’Connor it was really exciting. Weeks passed until I discovered I was entered into the finals in London, I couldn’t believe my luck. The competition was really tough it was compiled of age catergories and sexes. I remember being really nervous and excited at the same time. That night I found out I had won my catergory, it was fantastic the prize was £1000 and a bit of publicity too. After then my career just took off literally weeks after I did photo shoots for Fuji,Marks and Spencers,Denby pottery, Schuh magazine, and Nicholas Deakins shoes. Along side I have been doing TV extra work for Soaps and TV dramas such as Peak |
Practice, Emmerdale,No Angels, Cross roads, The Alchemist, Heart Beat, Where
the Heart is and many more, plus appeared in adverts such as British gas,
Direct line Insurance and the Halifax. Since then my career in the broadcasting industry has rocketed aswell, I’ve presented on a handful of programmes such as WAM TV covering the Edinburgh Festival, Rapture TV presenting night clubs and events, ITV’s pilot show ‘Club 18-30 stoners and now I’m currently presenting a Satellite show on channels 172 and 178 called ‘Play 2 Win’, ‘Bid 2 win’, and ‘King of Cash’. I have had such a successful career that if it wasn’t for Models Direct believeing in me I probably would not be here, I want to take this opportunity to thank Damian and Suzy and the rest of the crew for giving me fantastic gigs and especially I want to thank the lovely Wendy who has been there with me all the way. In my eyes Models Direct and one of the best agents you could be with and they are just getting stronger and better each year. Thank you very much and I hope to be there another 5 years. Now I’ve broken the U.K its time to hit the United states Damian hint hint... Paul Wookey |
