It can be tempting to buy the look of the minute, but by doing this you will not get much wear out of it! Try and stay clear of the latest prints and patterns as they date very quickly. Instead do your best to stay individual and bring elements of your own identity to the outfit - otherwise in a couple of months everyone will be wearing it!

• Learn to work your clothes to flatter your figure, i.e., if your upper arms are not toned then try to avoid wearing vest tops, or if you have broad hips then an A-line skirt will suit you better than a pencil skirt. Learning what suits you is the basis of looking good, as all our shapes are very different!

• Plan your shopping trip and have an idea of exactly what you are heading out to buy. Then you wont be tempted by items you don't need.

• Dress in a way that reflects your personality. Dressing exactly to the latest trend will probably not reflect your true image, so it is really important to have individuality and to add your own input. You will be a much more successful and confident person if you feel happy and comfortable in the clothes you are wearing!

• Think about what you wear on a daily basis - what are you setting out to accomplish each day? Make sure you dress in a practical way that fits your daily requirements. For example, high heels and shorts skirts are not suitable for working in a restaurant, and jogging bottoms and trainers would not go down well in the office. Shop to suit your life style!

• Mix designer pieces with high street clothes. Don't dress from head to foot in the same designer as it's very obvious and you tend to look like a billboard! Try to mix your favourite designer piece with an items from a high street store. You could wear your favourite designer top with a pair of high street jeans. Or designer shoes and accessories with a high street outfit.

• Comfort is a big issue when choosing clothes. Fashion is often unlikely to be the most comfortable option. For example, wearing shoes that pinch your feet or give you blisters will frustrate and irritate you and effect how you deal with daily tasks. Wearing trousers or skirts that are too tight will only make you feel bigger than you actually are. There is nothing worse than seeing someone squeezed into a piece of clothing that is one or two sizes too small for won’t them! We should except the size we are and dress to suit.

• Next time you are walking down the street take notice of what people are wearing and think about the impression they are trying to make. You will notice that certain types
of people wear similar sorts of clothes and how people use their clothes to reflect their personalities and the types of lifestyles they live. Think about the way you dress, to feel your best -that’s important thing to remember!
