Eye shadows come in creams, powders, and pencils. Creams are the hardest to control, they can look beautiful but tend to slip into the creases on your lids. Powder is great because you can use it either wet or dry and often make the eyes look softer, and more natural. You may find that if creams crease easily, prime your eyelid with a pale, neutral powder eye shadow and then apply the cream shadow.

First assignments can be daunting, there is so much to take in: where do you have to go? What will the photographer be like? What will I have to do? How long is it going to take to get there? But first assignments can also be exciting and great fun!

Getty Images the worlds leading provider of imagery, film and digital services came to MD looking for an Oriental boy to appear on the website of one of their French clients, the shots would also be used in brochures, trade press and for exhibitions.

Getty Images know we have a wide range of models nationwide including a diverse ethnic mix - we had no trouble providing a short list for them.

The theme for the campaign was ‘Understanding the World’ and the photographs were going to be used for various advertisements, a big campaign to be shot in London.

Our chosen model, Lucas is just 6 years old so was of course accompanied by his mum Louisa who had this to say:

“Everything went really well at the photo shoot. Lucas was a little nervous at first because being his first modelling assignment, he didn't know what to expect. But as he watched the other children being photographed he began to relax and really enjoy the experience. When it was his turn he came across as being really confident and at ease in front of the camera, and was able to produce the shots that they wanted. I had a few people comment that they couldn't believe that it was his first job because he was so confident!

Well done Lucas - a great assignment and you have kicked off your modelling career with one of our top clients, truly putting yourself in the frame of fame.

Neutral eye shadows are easy to work with because they blend with one another to compliment your skin tone, usually use 2 or 3 colours or shades of a colour. Brown, beiges, gold, olive, pale purple and grey are great.

Apply the lightest colour to the browbone a medium colour just below the eyelid crease and dark shadow to the eyelids from the lashline to the crease in the eyelid or as a liner.

There are lots of options for lining your eyes, so choose what you're most comfortable with, an eye pencil, with built-in smudger for a smokier look or for a softer line use an eyeliner brush with eye shadow.

Mascara is a great way to give eyelashes added impact. Always start from the base of your lash and work your way out to the tip, Use black mascara is great but is you are really fair or want a natural, un-made-up look use brown as it is much softer looking. If you feel daring, try coloured mascara in navy or plum; it's a good way to play with colour.

Mama Mia!

Our Assignments Team are delighted to be working with another prestigious, Nationwide baby-wear brand. Mamas and Papas is one of the UK 's leading retailers in the nursery industry and three of our beautiful babies will be featured in the Spring 2006 catalogue!

Mamas and Papas, whose head office is in Huddersfield, requested Models Direct to supply babies who were able to sit up but could still fit into 3-6months clothing.

Twins Etienne & Amity from Preston and little Jacob from Chesterfield were perfect for the assignment and had a wonderful time at the shoot, modelling the latest spring and summer fashions.

Our babies smiled and gurgled through the hour-long shoot at the Millennium Studios in York. Etienne & Amity’s Mum Audrey said:

“The twins really enjoyed the experience and it was fun for me to see them perform for the camera. The clothes they modelled were really cute!”

Etienne & Amity had been registered with us for only a month when this fantastic opportunity was offer to their parents, who were thrilled with the prospect of their child being featured in national advertising!

This assignment is another children’s high profile modelling assignment we secured and seen all over the UK.

Potential models often worry that if they are not based in the London area that work will be scarce but actually photo shoots, promotional assignments and television shoots take place all over the country, and clients often specifically ask for our regional models.

Late News - We’ve just got four of our newborn baby models into the Spring ‘06 catalogue!
