Differently able, diverse and a sensational set of shoots to remember – Models Direct teams up with the Business Disability Forum

Published: 27th Feb 2024

Fun, professional very relaxed – these are just some of the terms used by the outstanding models from Models Direct who took part in an exciting series of shoots for us.

Staged at a variety of locations, showcasing an array of scenarios and activities, photoshoots for the Business Disability Forum (BDF) featured some 20 of our incredible models.

Just like the BDF, Models Direct has always been about diversity and inclusion.

Our models reflect the rich variety of everyday people out there  – people of different ages and sizes, from all sorts of backgrounds, and with a glorious spectrum of heritages and abilities.

Each of us is different and the models on our books truly reflect that.

The BDF came to us via creative agency Faltrego, requesting models of a range of abilities to take part in a number of different shoots.

As usual, we supplied them with a selection to meet their requirements and they decided just which of our models they would like to invite to take part.

Among those chosen were Pete, who has Down’s Syndrome, Molly, who walks with sticks, and Jeanette who is deaf.

Other models involved included Loreen, who suffered a brain injury, Alex, who has cerebral palsy, and Lee, who is partially sighted.

Many more models were also involved and all the shoots went swimmingly.

The BDF has now ended up with a magnificent library of superb images to use in their various campaigns and our impressive team of models proved their exceptional skills.

But what did they have to say about their experiences afterwards? Well here are just some of their comments:

Molly said: “Yesterday I had my first paid job. Gemma, my talent manager was so kind, understanding, considerate and supportive surrounding my personal circumstances.

“She discussed the whole process with me.”

And Jeanette said: “This was the first time I have been on a modelling shoot.

“I’m a deaf client, which can be hard, but I managed and it went really well without an interpreter.

“It has been a good experience for me and I enjoyed it.”

According to those accompanying Pete, he didn’t stop talking all the way home!

They said: “There was very good communication and support from Gemma, hence Pete was well informed and prepared.

“He was initially shy but the crew were very supportive and professional. Overall, he enjoyed the day!”

Loreen also said it was a fun experience: “The people I worked with at the photoshoot were very nice and welcoming. They put me at ease and I was very comfortable as a result.

“Models Direct made the whole process enjoyable and Gemma was very attentive.”

Alex said he initially signed up Models Direct for a laugh! He added: “I never realised I’d actually get a job modelling!

“Being a wheelchair user I felt really nervous as I had no experience within this industry.

“But Lexy made me feel welcome from the moment I got to the shoot, explaining what would happen throughout the day.

“The shoot felt very relaxed and couldn’t have asked for a better first experience.”

Lee admitted he was also unsure of what to expect as it was also his first time modelling.

But he added: “I had a really great time – the whole crew made me feel welcome and comfortable in the new surroundings.

“And Gemma at Models Direct really helped make the process run smoothly.

“I am now looking forward to my next shoot and gaining more experience.”
