Being Dog Friendly Makes Good Business Sense

Published: 20th Apr 2020

Owners of dog models will know how annoying it can be when they stop at cafés and pubs on their travels only to find their four-legged friends are not welcomed with open paws.

More and more businesses, however, are realising there is good money to be made in becoming dog friendly, as many of us insist on treating our canine companions just like other family members.

In recent years, those involved in pet modelling will have noticed a plethora of websites appearing to specifically appeal to those who like to holiday with their happy hounds.

These list dog-friendly holiday homes, apartments, cottages and luxury accommodation where your perfect pet can join in the fun when you make your great escape.

More and more bed and breakfasts, guest houses and hotels are also welcoming visitors with furry friends to stay in some of their suites and rooms.

And many of these businesses, where owners of pet models may well have stayed between jobs, are not simply accepting four-legged guests, they are actively encouraging them.

Doggy welcome packs, special beds, blanket and treats are often offered in dog-friendly rooms as an added enticement to book.

But those with pets in dog modelling will know that accommodating our perfect pooches in other places is important too.

Shops, eateries and attractions can all benefit hugely if they are welcome dog owners as whole-heartedly as their other customers.

According to the PDSA, there are approximately 9.9 million dogs in the UK – 26 per cent of the adult population keeps a canine.

So those businesses not appealing to this section of the market are clearly losing out.

Furthermore, research carried out by the Kennel Club suggests allowing four-legged friends to accompany their two-legged owners can boost morale and improve the atmosphere within a business.

Some 71 per cent of businesses questioned in a Kennel Club survey said they had gained new customers after introducing a dog-friendly policy.

And half of those questioned found that guests stayed longer per visit if they were accompanied by their dog.

Two-thirds noticed an increased level of interaction between guests when dogs were allowed on the premises and more than half reported an increased level of interaction between staff and customers.

Animal modelling agencies know how important it is that our furry friends are made to feel as welcome and wanted as we are.

After all, good owners will always take responsibility for their pets and allowing them in with their delighted dogs makes perfect business sense.
