Christmas campaigns

Published: 18th Dec 2023

Christmas is a time for family and fun, but also when the purse strings are tighter than usual. We’re all in the same boat. Money shouldn’t detract from the festive frivolities, although unless you’re a Premiership footballer or business magnate, you’ll probably be keeping one eye on the turkey and decorations and the other on your bank balance.

That’s why one of our fabulous clients Morrisons have given us some extra Christmas cheer by cutting prices on some Crimbo essentials. The good folks at one of the UK’s largest supermarkets have reduced the prices on 58 popular festive items, including roast potatoes, cranberry sauce, tin foil and, of course, stuffing. It marks Morrisons’s 10th price reduction of the year; in fact, the total price of all the 58 grocery items is cheaper than Christmas 2022’s equivalent. Commendable work from the Bradford-based retailer.

When they opted for this gesture to all its loyal customers, Morrisons turned to their marketing campaign. Once again they approached Models Direct in the first instance to ask for our help: they needed one of our talented models to help them with a PR photo shoot to tell the country about their Christmas price reductions.

It’s always been a pleasure working with Morrisons, and so this one proved to be. We weren’t given much notice, but that’s never stopped us recommending the right models to clients.

Once Morrisons looked at the shortlisted models, they chose Eugenie, who definitely delivered. She was given all the necessary details (locations, PR company contact, dress code, wages etc), and before she knew it, Eugenie arrived on set in London’s Stratford area, ready for the day ahead.

The marketing agency was the Academy – again, another familiar name to our booking team, as they have a trusting relationship with Morrisons.

When Eugenie finished her London shoot and dispensed her Santa’s hat, she gave us her ever-important evaluation of her debut modelling gig:

Though it was Eugenie’s first shoot with us, she was pleased she accepted the assignment. This needs emphasizing: models don’t have to accept any jobs we put forward to them. Individual models have different reasons for refusing work from us, and we never use that against them for future bookings.

“I accomplished my first assignment with Models Direct today – a corporate Christmas advert for Morrisons. The process was well organised by Charlie, although it was last minute: I received the paperwork with clear instructions and I was explained what type of photo shoot it was so I could chose whether to go for it or not.
On the day, it really felt like home. There was a good small team to work with in a relaxed fashion. It was a fun experience out of a short and simple photo shoot, which seemingly didn’t have much special about it – except the Christmas hat!”

Helping others by helping a corporate company is one of the pleasures working at Models Direct. Our experienced team wouldn’t have it any other way. And we hope this Christmas campaign will help shoppers in the lead-up to the Big Day.
