We like to give our models and readers the hard facts about the commercial modelling industry. We’ve never shirked our responsibilities and we’ve never said that gaining any kind of commercial modelling is easy. It can be made easier by following a few golden rules, but it’s never been a case of waving the proverbial magic wand and a job landing in a model’s lap.

Some modelling agencies are different from us. Some claim to find models work, but any company can claim just about anything. The question is: what can real models legitimately expect from an agency? Which agency is the most suitable for you?
The first – and best – piece of advice is for readers to research an agency. Make sure that an agency makes good on its promise: to actively find models work. This might sound obvious, and it largely is. But some agencies are merely photographic agencies and will charge models for having their pictures taken – with no intention of finding them the all-important modelling gigs. So be careful!

We don’t charge models for photos, because all we need are two accurate and clear photos that models can take themselves, as well as a small fee – which is standard for the industry. This fee goes towards offsetting the costs a legitimate agency has for our work seeking publication. So, it’s best to stay clear of any agency who asks for payment for just photos.
Next, look to see what type of jobs the agency can offer. You may prefer the range of opportunity from one agency over another one. Also, you may get a general vibe about an agency because of their core values.

Some agencies may only find employment in particular areas – e.g. in the North West. This may suit some models, although most models like to know of an agency’s nationwide catchment area.

Don’t be afraid to ask an agency any questions you have. If they’re responsible and genuine, they’ll only be too happy for models to contact them.
We represent all types of model, so please get in touch or register to complete the first step towards working with a modelling employment agency with 35 years of experience.
