Really felt it was a friendly experience especially for a first time job. Staff were very patient and made it as comfortable as possible as i was quite nervous. The day started off with us all being sat and briefed on what the day would happen. Then myself and a couple others were brought through to begin the shoot. Was great fun and made very straightforward by the team. The day passed incredibly quickly.”

How Modelling Builds Confidence at Any Age

Modelling can – and does – grow confidence. Unlike many other jobs (either part-time or as a career), modelling often involves human interaction and posing in front of a camera or film team. Anyone on set can suspect nerves and, although some nerves are to be expected, models must learn to stay calm and trust their abilities. Models must even display confidence for a regular photoshoot consisting of just a few head shots; they must rely on their talents and their skills to follow directions from whoever is leading the shoot. To say that a model simply shows up and stands still until the photographer has finished their task is naïve.  

If you already have a wealth of life experience, what are the best ways to (re)build some self-esteem when embarking on modelling jobs? We have the answers – some could be just what you’re looking for, whilst others might not work. Like we say, we’re all different.

Confidence is usually built on experience. Some people can be naturally confident, but most of us gain assurance by trying new things, confronting fears or engaging with the unknown.

I had my first job today through Models Direct. The crew was incredible, clearly professional and know what they are doing. There was no pressure despite the big lights and the shoot was great fun and felt natural.
