Here at Models Direct we work extremely hard to find work for those we represent.

Our team of professional agents is dedicated to responding to direct requests from clients as well as forging new connections and chasing completely new opportunities.

We also work hard to ensure we have a strong online presence, via our website, blogs and social media platforms, as well as Image magazine, to ensure we remain very visible to anyone who might be seeking to employ models through us.

And, of course, we do all we can to maintain our exceptional reputation within the industry.

Our service is always fast, efficient and professional as we want clients who have used us before to return to us time and time again and refer us to others – which they do!

But, the hard work is not just down to us…

Oh no – you have your part to play too!

But, what can you do to stand out and get booked? How can you boost your modelling opportunities?

Here are some suggestions:

1. Maintain your e-portfolio

One essential step is to keep your e-portfolio fresh and up to date. This is so we and our clients know you still look as you do in your photos and your information is all correct. It is therefore extremely important to upload recent photography regularly and amend your biography as necessary. If you have any unique features, then make sure you highlight these – again this could help you to stand out from the crowd. Develop your e-portfolio as your bookings grow and your modelling journey progresses – and don’t forget to include any great references you may receive!

2. Shout loud!

Don’t be hesitant about singing your own praises – those who shout loudest are the ones who stand out! While we don’t require models to have previous experience to join us, please tell us about it if you do. Likewise, if you have any other skills or talents then make sure you mention it on your e-portfolio. Sometimes a client might seek a model who can speak a certain language, take part in a particular sport or even sing or dance. And, of course, much of the modelling work we offer actually involves some acting or performing. So tell us all about that too!

3. Work your social media

Social media is such a valuable tool in the world of modelling, but you need to use it properly. If you are serious about getting booked for assignments, then think carefully about how you are presenting yourself. If you join us, we would suggest clearing out your old accounts of any potentially embarrassing content. Moving forward, make sure that whatever you post presents you as you wish to be seen by potential employers. Keep your social media accounts active and engaging and follow your agency and others in the industry.

4. Network, network, network

Talk to people, make contacts and push yourself forward. Remember, as your agent Models Direct is very happy to represent you for any assignment, even if not sourced through us. We can check it out for you to ensure it is genuine, negotiate a fair fee for you and ensure you are actually paid and that your cheque arrives promptly. Chat to other models you meet, as well as photographers and production crews. Contact local businesses that might require models for fashion shows, photo or film shoots or promotional events.

5. Be flexible

Flexibility is key if you want to get booked. The more flexible you are, the more likely you are to be included on a shortlist and ultimately chosen. If you can only work locally, then that is not a problem but it will clearly affect the amount of work you can be put forward for. Make sure we also have a clear understanding of your availability and any other commitments. Modelling can be a great pastime to fit around family, work or studying but if you have lots of spare time and are prepared to travel, then ensure you tell us. Again, this can help you to stand out and perhaps get booked over and above someone else with a similar look and skillset to you.
